The Career Development Office of the University of Applied Sciences Nikola Tesla in Gospić was established to enable students to become familiar with various opportunities for professional development and to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to realize their own professional potential.
The development of career management skills and the increase of employability and competitiveness of students on the labor market is achieved through the continuous implementation of advisory, informative, educational and research activities.
Main activities of the Office:
- Career counseling, individual or group, with the aim of supporting students in developing career management skills, exploring career opportunities, and connecting with potential employers
- Informing students about employment and training opportunities and informing senior high school students about study programs
- Achieving cooperation with employers and connecting them with students for the purpose of organizing quality professional practice
- Organizing and conducting educational workshops and lectures aimed at developing communication skills and career management skills
- Systematic monitoring of the labor market, monitoring of employment of former students, as well as coordination of the exchange of experiences between members of the Polytechnic Alumni Club and students.

Held lectures “Creating the final thesis” and “Professional practice”
Organized by the Career Development Office on January 25, 2024, at the University of Applied Sciences Nikola Tesla in Gospić, Ivana Arbanas, univ. mag. oec., lecturer, and Mile Vičić, univ. mag. oec., lecturer, held lectures: “Writing a final thesis” and “Performing professional practice.”
The lectures were intended for third-year students of the Business, Transport and Administration Departments of the Polytechnic. During the lectures, the methodology for writing a final thesis, procedures and the importance of proper technical design of the final thesis were explained to the students, and the importance of professional practice in education and career development was highlighted.
Students actively participated in the discussion held after the lecture and, through the questions asked, gained important insights related to the process of preparing and defending the final thesis and the method and specifics of performing professional practice.
Through these lectures, the students were given useful information and experiences, which they need in education and competitiveness in the labor market. According to the students’ reactions and involvement in the discussion, it can be concluded that the lectures were practical and interesting.

Held lectures on the topic “Creating the final thesis” and “Professional practice”
Organized by the Career Development Office on February 23, 2023, at the “Nikola Tesla” Polytechnic in Gospić, lecturers Ivana Arbanas and Mile Vičić held lectures on the topics: “Writing a final thesis” and “Performing professional practice.”
The lectures were organized for full-time and part-time students of the third year of undergraduate professional studies at the Polytechnic. During the lectures, students had the opportunity to learn about the methodology of writing a final thesis, the technique of designing a final thesis, as well as the importance of professional practice in education and career development.
After the lecture, students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions about the organization of the final thesis defense, as well as performing professional practice. It was an opportunity for our students to listen to useful information, ask questions, and share their experiences. Based on the active participation of the gathered students, we conclude that the lecture was informative and interesting.
We would like to thank the students and lecturers of the Polytechnic who responded to our invitation to participate in lectures related to the preparation of their final thesis and professional practice.

(Econ.), lecturer – Head of the Semester Professional Practice at the Business Department of the University of Applied Sciences.
