
Promotion of professional bachelor’s degrees held
The 14th ceremonial promotion of professional bachelors of the Nikola Tesla Polytechnic was held today at the Open University in Gospić, marking another successful end to the academic year. 35 students from the economics, road and administration departments were promoted at the ceremony.
In addition to the dean of the Polytechnic, Dr. sc. Branislav Šutić, and the institution’s staff, the event was attended by numerous guests from social, political and educational life. Among them were the prefect of Lika-Senj County Ernest Petry with his deputy Jasna Orešković Brkljačić, the bishop of Gospić-Senj, Msgr. mr. Marko Medo, the president of the Governing Board of the Polytechnic Božo Marković, the mayor of Gospić Darko Milinović, the deputy mayor Ivica Kovačević, the director of the County Roads Administration, mr. sc. Luka Matijević, the director of Lika Roads, Dr. sc. Joso Vrkljan, the president of the County Chamber, Dr. sc. Joso Brajković, the mayors of the municipalities of Perušić and Vrhovine, Ivica Turić and Milorad Delić, the principal of the Gospić Gymnasium, Anela Serdar Pašalić, the directors of public institutions, parents and employees of the polytechnic.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Gospić-Senj, Marko Medo, addressed the attendees with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of education, responsibility, and service to the community, and encouraging the graduates that every day is an opportunity to learn new things, and that the school of life is one that lasts a lifetime. In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, the Bishop also sent a heartfelt Easter greeting to all those gathered on the occasion of the greatest Christian holiday, Easter.
In his speech, Dean Šutić congratulated the students on their achieved results, wished them much success in their further education and careers, and encouraged them to continue to be bearers of knowledge and development in their region, while also emphasizing that this year the Polytechnic has become richer with a new major in entrepreneurship in tourism, in which future graduates will acquire the academic title of Master of Economics, and announcing a new major in nursing soon.
Mayor Milinović extended his sincere congratulations to all graduates who were ceremoniously promoted today at the Nikola Tesla Polytechnic in Gospić, emphasizing the importance of education as the foundation of society and the future of the city.
County Prefect Ernest Petry emphasized that he was proud of the development of higher education in Gospić and congratulated all bachelors on their success.
– “You are a pledge for the future and for better times, both in the area of the city of Gospić and the Lika-Senj County,” said Petry. He pointed out that, thanks to cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the relevant ministries, a number of projects have been implemented in the area of all eight municipalities and four cities in the county in the last four years. He also announced future investments in the construction of a student dormitory in Gospić, which will serve students from other regions, as well as the Homeland War Memorial Center, which will be located next to the dormitory.
A special moment of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates of appreciation to individuals whose contributions enabled the launch of a new specialist graduate study program “Entrepreneurship in Tourism”, thereby further expanding the educational offer of the “Nikola Tesla” Polytechnic and opening up new opportunities for students.
The program ended with the ceremonial presentation of diplomas to the graduates, and the entire program was further enriched with her performance by opera singer Sandra Bagarić.
